Day activities
A pleasant and fitting way to spend your day.
A day with a purpose makes life richer. Day activities give structure to your week and bring you into contact with others, with activities that suit you. For one person it is about being creative or about moving; for another about learning skills, or simply about company and meeting people. Together with you we look for a way to spend the day that means something — not a programme you have to follow, but a day to look forward to.
Our day activities in Nijmegen are there for adults with a mild intellectual disability (in Dutch: LVG), with mental health problems (GGZ) or with dementia, and for people with a multicultural background. Day activities are valuable for family carers too: while the person you care for has a good day, there is room for you to catch your breath. Our support workers work in a culture-sensitive way, so that everyone feels welcome — whatever their language, faith or background.
Before you start, we get to know each other during an intake with a behavioural specialist and a support worker. In the first period we look at what gives you energy and which group and activities suit you. From the presence approach, the relationship comes first: support workers are really there for you, not just next to you. In multidisciplinary reviews we regularly discuss whether the day activities still match your wishes and your possibilities.
You pay for our day activities with a pgb (a personal budget you use to buy your own care), which you apply for under the Wmo (the Dutch Social Support Act, arranged by your municipality) or the Wlz (the Dutch Long-Term Care Act). Curious whether our day activities in the Rijk van Nijmegen region suit you? You are very welcome to come and meet us without obligation — call 06 4849 6899 or register straight away.
Frequently asked questions about day activities
Which activities do the day activities offer?
We match that to the group and to what you like to do: from creative and practical activities to exercise, cooking together and moments of meeting others. During the first meeting and the first period we discover together which activities give you energy.
How many half-days can I come to the day activities?
The number of half-days depends on your indication and on your wishes. Some people come one half-day a week, others several days. We look together at what fits and what is workable, and we review that regularly.
Can I come and have a look first, without obligation?
Yes, and gladly. You are very welcome to come and meet us — together with someone close to you if you prefer that — so that you can get a feel for the atmosphere before you decide. Call 06 4849 6899 to make an appointment.
